Great River Golf Club is the Northeast's premier semi-private golf club. Designed by
Tommy Fazio, the golf course is challenging and awe-inspiring. In 2005 Great River was named #2 Top Rated Golf Course in the State of Connecticut and ranked #34 on America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses List by Golf Digest Magazine.
Twelve holes involve a water challenge, six of which border the Housatonic River. Proximity to the river creates unusual winds that add complexity to judging your shots.
The front nine holes weave through wooded terrain, with the back nine exhibiting a links
style layout. On the front nine you will travel over one of 7 wooden bridges as you approach the third green with its intimidating bunkers. A thirty-foot waterfall cascades just off the eleventh hole, making it a rewarding and challenging 218 yards.

Great River is ranked among the country's Top 50 Most Popular Golf Courses, Top 50 Facilities, and Top 50 in Service by the ZagatSurvey, 2004 America's Top Golf Courses. Quotes include, "Spectacular layout along the Housatonic River," "Top-notch practice facilities," "Outstanding food and service," and "A track that's superior to most private clubs."
Players of all levels are accommodated with five sets of tees stretching the course from 5,170 to 7,191 yards. The back tees play at an intimidating 150 slope; offering the most seasoned golfer an arduous challenge.
Great River also earned the following Reader's Choices in The Best of Northeast Golf 2005: Favorite Golf Course—Top Pick, Favorite Clubhouse Restaurant—Top Pick, Favorite Clubhouse—Most Popular Choices, Favorite New Golf Course—Most Popular Choices.
